Essentials of Informative
This course offers the perfect starting point for students aiming to gain experience or compete in Informative Speaking, a one-of-a-kind speech and debate event that combines both visual creativity and stage presence. Led by seasoned national champions, students learn how to write their own speeches, incorporate humor, and develop stage presence—no prior experience needed.
Hannah Yang
Hannah has won numerous accolades over the 5-6 years she has participated in Speech and Debate. In 2023, she was the National Speech and Debate Association’s MS Informative Speaking Champion and placed 2nd at the MS Tournament of Champions in 2023. She LOVES music (favorite genre is bedroom pop), and her favorite book is My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

Natalie Chen
Natalie is the 2023 National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) MS Declamation Speaking National Champion, (in Informative Speaking:) semifinalist at 2024 Berkeley Invitational as a freshman (among the best high schoolers in the nation), the CHSSA Middle School State Champion, as well as the 4th place speaker at the NSDA MS National Championships. She loves speech and debate with all the doors it has opened up and just how much you can learn from the experience. She is also a Golden State Warriors fanatic and a Crumbl Cookies connoisseur.
